Britain's New £3,000,000 Aircraft Carrier

Ark Royal Has Flight Deck

Nearly 800 Feet Long

In general appearance, the 22.000-ton IL.M.S. Ark Royal is similar to the large aircraft-carriers already in service, the Courageous and Glorious, having a small bridge structure attached to the funnel which is set over to one side so as to leave the flight deck free of all obstructions, fare and aft.

But she differs from them in having only one flight deck, ex- Lending over the full length of the ship, instead of one-third of its length, at the fore end, at a lower level.

"The Scroll of the Law was the most prized possession of a Jewish community in South Germany." Rabbi Perlzweig said. "It dated from the founding of its syna- gogue. When anti-Semitic attacks dispersed the community the Jews Bent their Scroll to the German- Jewish ex-Servicemen's Association in another town. For safe keeping it was sent to a synagogue. The German-Jewish refugees brought it to London.
