EMERGENCY WORK IN NEW TERRITORIES

Fonds totalling approximately $1.000.000 have been distributed by the National Rellef Commission for refugee rellef in Kwangtung. Kwangst, Hongkong and Macao, Mr. Hsu Shih-ying, acting-chairman of the Commission, informed the "Central News Agency” yesterday.

A total of 5300.000 has been handeg over by the Commission to the Kwangtung Provincial Government for distribution in the war areas along the East, West and North Rivers and in south Kwang- tung.

In addition, $20,000 has been appropriated to the Swatow Municipal Government and $10,000 to the medical unit of the Red Swastika Society for relief purposes in Swalow.

General Tsai Ting-kai Directing Operations In West River Delta

Changshan, December 5. Gen. Tati Ting-kai. who took the world by surprise in his re- sistance against the Japanese in the first Shanghai war of January 28. 1932, is now again directing operations against the Japanese in the West River delta, about 50 miles southwest of Canton.

. The Japanese are now in occupation of Kowkong, on a tributary of the West River about 40 miles north of Kongmoon, which is now the objective of the Japanese. The capture of Kawkong is to fore- stall Chinese shipments of arms to the troops in the interior.
