The market opened 1/4 of a cent lower for all deliveries as comi- pared with Friday's closing rates.
In sympathy with easier advices from London and New York the market ruled dull after the opening. Demand from principal consum- ing countries for "spot" Rubber was moderate, whilst very little ac- tivity was displayed by dealers and speculators, who preferred to await further developments before entering into fresh engagements on a larger scale.
"Although business news from UAA, continues favourable, particu- larly Motor car-production, yet the market seems to be somewhat affected by outside ́influences such as the uncertainiles with regard to the future trend of the London—New York Cross-rate, fears of further labour-troubles in the Automobile -Industry, lower Stock and Coin- modity markets in U.S.A. etc,, all of which would seem to check any substantial advance in Rubber for the time being. However, in well informed quarters the opinion prevails that the more distant outlook is very promising, and it is, therefore, recommended to utilize any fur- ther setbacks for conservative accumulation.
Closing tone was quiet.
