POOLS ILLEGAL
IN FRANCE
Judgment was given recently in the cas: in which a Paris news- paper was prosecuted for promoting a football pools scheme sundar to those in operation in England,
A director named Bazen was ordered to pay a fine of 100 francs, about 11s, by the tribunal, who held that the pools were
similar to a lottery. Competitors had to forecast results of matches being played on the following Sun- day.
