CLUB BEAT ROYAL NAVY F.J. LAY AGAIN
IN KEEN RUGBY MATCH
Better Stamina Tells In One Of Season's Best Games
(By Robin)
One of the finest games of Rurby seen this season was witnessed on the Club ground at Happy Valley on Saturday, when Club Isl AV defeated Navy by a score of 18 points to 15.
Navy held the lead practically throughout the game and in the second period were unlucky to lose Stevens, who was carried off the feld following a collisiori. This disorganised allowed Club to score two tries without, reply.
The Club side were slow in the up-take and took some time to settle down; on the other hand, Navy were very convincing during the opening moments of the game. scoring their first try within the first five minutes of play.
The Navy three-quarters were pretty to watch, and engineered mány runs. Stevens at back, proved a stumbling-black to the opposition. The Navy pack, like wise. showed co-operation and got the ball out of the scrum nine times out of ten.
On the Club side, Bosanquet, who distinguished Dimself last week against an Army side, was on the wing, his tackling was good but is still rather erractic in hand- ling the ball. Cessford and Grieve were the brains of the three-quar- ters, while Bidwell is worthy of mention for the two tries, and a
penalty kick.
'Henderson, the Club scrumn-half, played a plucky game and was res- ponsible for two tries. both
of which were scored in fine manner. THE PLAY
Play opened with adden rush towards the Club topch-ne and in a strummage. Talbot placed the ball over the line for the opening try. The kick was taken at a dim- cult angle and failed conversion.
