THANKSGIVING

DAY OBSERVED

IN HONGKONG

All the Americans celebrated a national holiday of the United States yesterday, when they ob- - sèrved Thanksgiving Day.

Many private, homes, hotels and) clubs were the scenes of gay parties where bygone days and memories. of similar occasions were discussed f and reviewed over the proverbial turkey and all the trimmings which accompany this day of thanks and feasting.

Thanksgiving Day to the people of the United States stands us i honour to the pilgrims who landed at Plymouth after a weary and. rough. voyage from England.

They nominated that day to thanks and gratitude for the success of the journey and which to-day is suggested by the past comforts and blessings received during the year gone by.

Many American youngsters look upon this day as a school holiday. and one of galety, leasting and happiness in the home.

So it was that the citizens of America celebrated November 24. though far from their native home. the memory and honour of the oc- casion was carried out in Honkgong by these enjoyable Americans.

"So are you,” replied His Royal Highness, as they warmly sbook hands. All four stailed happily as, chatting: rally, they went into the lift which took them upstairs to the private dining-room.
