BANKING STATISTICS
Importaal changes in banking statistles in the United States during September were noted owla; to the extraordinary gold inflow from Europe and to the influence of Treasury operations in the mid- dle of the month.
Reviewing the banking situation in the United States during the month, the National Bank of New York states that due principally to the gold purchases by the Treasur, member bank sese.ves increased early $460,000,000 between the car y part of August and the middle of September, reaching a new peak $8.425,000,000 on the 14th of the month.
