It was officially announced last night that Viscount Hailsham, Lord President of the Council; having tendered his resignation, the King has been graciously pleased to accept and approve of the fol |lowing appointments:—As Lord President' of the Council; Viscount Ranciman of Doxford; as Lord' Privy Seal, Sir John Anderson; as Secretary for Dominion Affairs, Mr. Malcolm MacDonald

In letters exchanged between. Lord Hailsham and the Premier. the former Lord President makes clear that his resignation is not due to difference of opinion or divergence over policy and is ac- tuated solely by his desire to leave at Mr. Chamberlain's disposal a post which does not involve the administration of any great department of state and so increase his opportunity of wider reinforcement of the Cabinet.

The well-known aviators, Mr. C. WA Scott and Mrs. Kirby-Green, who some time ago made a record Hight from England to the Cape. are planning to leave England on November 7 in an attempt to fly from England to Sydney, Australia, In two days.
