The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as compared with Tuesday's closing quotations.

Shortly after the opening the market displayed a steady under- tone, thus responding to the encouraging action of the New York Rubber Exchange. There was good demand for 'spot" Rubber, whilst fair buying interest was in evidence for trade and speculative ac- counts. Activity was also stimulated by overnight cables from New York, reporting on a greatly improved cutlook of business-recovery, particularly in the Motor-car industry. In view of this fact it may be assumed that consumption of Crude Rubber for the present quar- ter will make further satisfactory progress

After some business having been transacted at quoted rates, the market, later in the sesalon, became firm on persistent further general enquiries, and with sellers adopting a reserved attitude prices regia-" tered a gradual advance of 3/8 cent for all deliveries.

Closing tone was very steady.

... 8-1/2 ... 8-9/18 After a slight Improvement, the market finally reacted in sym- pathy with New York.

NEW YORK COTTON

Prices "early "advanced on foreign buying and on the firmness of the stock market together with some moderate local buying, but later declined on commission-house selling and on lower Liverpool and Bombay advices. Later. the market again advanced on buysing by the Trade, but then again eased on liquidation, selling by spot-house and Southern hedge-selling.

NEW YORK RUBBER

The market opened higher on better cables from the primary marketa and further advanced on the early firmness of stocks. Throughout the session, foreign demand kept the tone moderately ad- tive, but prices finally reacted in sympathy with the set-back in stocks and on quidation and profit-taking.

CHICAGO WHEAT

Sentiment was early bolstered by Arm foreign cables, which in- duced covering operations and some new buying. A dull period en- sued thereafter, but towards the close the market again hardened on some buying by milling interests, and on a fair export demand.
