In sympathy with advices from New York the market ruled quiet, but steady throughout the day.

Good demand for "spot" Rubber influenced dealers and specula. tors to enter into fresh commitments on the long side, thus absorb- ing speculative selling and profit-taking.

Leading Rubber brokers in New York are of the opinion that Rub. ber prices might probably work higher, but that after the recent sharp advance it might be well to realize profits on the long side with a view to replacing holdings on declines.

The market was early depressed on Uquidation, but "prices then ralled on higher advices from other markets, New Orleans buying and covering by shorts. Later, there was "a temporary set-back on profit-taking. but prices again advanced on buying by the Trade and by foreign interests.

NEW YORK RUBBER

The market to-day was quiet and prices moved within a very narrow range, with factory and commission-house buying being oI- set by realising and Hiquidation. Overseas advices were favourable and prices anally closed steady, with an almost entire absence of selling pressure.

CHICAGO WHEAT

Prices opened lower on lower advices from the foreign markets and on favourable weather reports from various sections of the Belt, Further bearish factors were poor export demand and some scat- tered liquidation, but the marke, finally partially rallied on higher Liverpool advices and some professional support.
