Britain's Imports, exports and re-exports in July, 1935, showed Large declines in value as compared with the same month of 1937. As compared with July, 1936, Imports showed a considerable increase but exports and re-exports both showed substantial decreases. The ad- verse balance of visible trade was £31.9 millions in July, 1938, as compared with E31.1 millions in July, 1937. and £23.6 millions in July. 1936.

DISTRIBUTION OF TRADE || The July "Board of Trade Jour- nal" contains the customary article on-the-geographical distribution of Britain's trade during the Arst quarter and the first half of the year 1938 with comparable statis- Lics, for the two previous years. The following table contrasts the posi- tion in the Arst half of this year and of 1937 as between Empire and Foreign countries:-

IN CHINA`

Export of wolfram and tungsten ores, which are found in abun- dance in Kiangst, Kwangtung and Hunan as well as in Kwangsi, Fuklen, Hopei, Yurnan and Kwel- chow, have for some time been controlled by the Natural Re- sources Committee of the Military Affairs Commission.
