The market opened 1/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as com- pared with Tuesday's closing quotations.
After the opening the market displayed a steady undertone, thus responding to steady conditions prevailing in London and New York. was Demand for "actuals" was fair, whilst also good buying interest in evidence for trade and speculative accounts.
Later in the morning the market turned firm due to further persistent general buying, prices advancing by 1/4 cent, but it was difficult to arrange business due to the reserved attitude of sellers.
During the afternoon, however.quieter conditions prevailed, the market losing 1/8 cent of its previous gain and closing with a quiet, but steady undertone.

Market Arm and active on continued continental Trade inquiry and better New York advices.
NEW YORK COTTON
་
The market to-day was fairly active and prices advanced on Trade and local buying, together with the strength of Wall Street and covering by shorts. Offerings on the whole were scarce and there was little opposition to the advance.
NEW YORK RUBBER
Trade, foreign and commission-house demand caused an early ad- vance and prices soared to new "highs" for the year, following better reports from the foreign markets and the extreme lightness of primary offerings. There is evidence of factory buying" at the cur- ̈rent levels and sellers are still very reserved..
CHICAGO WHEAT
After an early quiet period, prices advanced on aggressive Eastern buying, the strength of stocks and indications that the market is in an over-sold condition. Higher temperatures are reported from the South-Western sections and there has been a considerable removal of "hedges" against sales to the Government.
