The market opened 1/2 of a cent lower for all deliveries as com- pared with Monday's closing quotations."

After the opening the market ruled quiet in sympathy with con- ditions prevailing in New York. Despite fair enquiries for "spot" Rubber, 'dealers and speculators were reluctant to enter inte new 'en- gagements due to the domestic political situation in the United Kingdom. After a moderate volume of business having been trans- acted on the basis of quoted rates, prices temporarily declined by further 3/8 cent on lack of support by dealers who, however, were not ... selling to any larger extent.

Later in the session the market recovered this setback, closing with a quiet, but steady undertone.

With the removal of war fears and with the advent of a better European political situation f is generally felt that Rubber should show a fair measure of improvement before long, more especially só, as reports from USA, indicate a continuance of steady dealer and factory buying.

Malayan Domestic" Rubber Exports during September are estimat- ed at 20,500 tons as against 29,000 tons in August and 28,000 tons in July.
