SOUTH CHINA FOOTBALL HOME FOOTBALL FIVE CRICKET

TEAM SURPRISED Middlesex Beat "A" Eleven

By Two Goals To One

Chinese footballers and fans had a terrific surprise, sprung on. them on Saturday when South China “A”, who last week beat Royal Scots by the amazing margin of 10-nil, went down to Middlesex by the odd goal in three after a tense game on their own ground.

It was a very even struggle, erding amidst keen excitement as Suth China "strove might and ma'n in the last few minutes to get the equaliser. They had a great chance when they were awarded. a penalty. but Jackson, with a spectacular full-length dive, saved Fung King-cheong's' spot kick.

the was

outstanding Watson player for the military side, and it was largely due to the magnif- cent example he set tils fellow- the closing stages defenders in that South China were denied the satisfaction of even taking a share of the spoils. It must be added that the Chinese hag, il-luck on a number of occasions, but, for their fine defence towards the end. it for nothing else, the winner.

deserved their success.

Lal Shul-wing scored for South China, while Pearson and Grogan netted for the Middlesex.
