Activities Of Hongkong Women's Union
RESPONSE MOST GRATIFYING
The general public will be interested to hear of the activities and further programme of the Women's Air Raid Precautions Union. It will be recalled that the object of forming the W.A.R.P.U. was to enable the women of the Colony, through organised lectures ac- ranged by the Air Raid Precautions Officer, to obtain general in- formation as 'to the action they could take to give the greatest degree of protection, to their homes and their families against the effects of Chemical warfare, splinters from high explosive bombs and methods of controlling incendiary bombs, together with a short course of first ald in the home. :
The response both from the,
• Europeans and non-Europeans has been most gratifying and it has been a matter of regret to the Committee that they have in some cases been unable to meet all the requests.. which they have received Owing to the shortage of Instruc- tors,
The WAR.P.U. was formed in June this year, and since this date, over 90 lectures have been given by qualified Instructors and over 700 women have attended, a con- siderable number of whom "have volunteered to place their services at the disposal of the Hongkong Government for" A.R.F duties the event of an emergency.
