The market opened 1/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as con- pared with Wednesday's closing rates.

Early in the session the market displayed a steady undertone with good demand for "spot" Rubber. In view of this fact also fair | enquiries by dealers and speculators were in evidence.

The better feeling was caused by reports of a decidedly more hopeful development in the Central European political situation. Sub- sequently, however, the market encountered easiness on somewhat disquieting political news, prices declining by 1/4 cent. for all de- liveries on profit-taking, some speculative selling and lack of support. During the last trading hour the market recovered this setback closing with a steady undertone.

Market steady and featureless.

NEW YORK COTTON

The market early in the session advanced on steady cables from abroad and on moderate local and foreign buying, but, with buying otherwise restricted, prices, however, eased. The later easiness was due to October" liquidation, moderate hedge selling,, local scattered offerings and the downward trend on Wall Street Operators are dis- playing increasing disposition to await developments in Godesberg and Czechoslovakia. Finally, the market closed steady.

NEW YORK RUBBER

The market eased on disappointing cables from,, abroad and the easiness of the stock market. Operators are on side-lines, due to the underlying European uncertainties.

CHICAGO WHEAT

A quiet, but firm market. There was some buying by exporters. The advances in Liverpool and Winnipeg aid the local market. The prevailing European political complications imparted firmness to the cash market.
