The market opened 1 cent higher for all forward deliveries as compared with Monday's closing quotations.

Very steady conditions prevailed throughout the session due to very satisfactory developments in the European political situation. Substantial buying orders for "actuals" were received from principal consuming centres, whilst great activity was also displayed by träde and speculative interests. It was difficult to arrange business on the basis of quoted rates due to the reserved attitude of sellers and whenever business was transacted, buyers mostly had to meet sellers price-ideas." Business was passing at 27-78 cents for January- March option at which rate there were further buyers at the close of the session. The market closed with a firm undertone.

It is generally felt that on the achievement of a general Euro- pean political settlement the market may move sharply "to higher ground, although apprehenalons of labour-untest in the American automobile industry may temporarily retard the upward trend to some extent.

The market early advanced on more favourable foreign news, steadier Liverpool cables and a stronger stock market. There was some Commission house buying, but offerings were comparatively light. October liquidation was moderate and was easily absorbed Demand, however, tapered off on the advance, with traders awaiting more definite Czech developments. Towards the close, offerings be- came scarce and the undertone was distinctly firm, as Traders were buying October and also foreign buying of July futurés. Finally. with general buying and realising, the market closed steady.

NEW YORK RUBBER

The 'market was steady and rallied partially on nervousness, Wall Street and Commission house buying. Demand, was accredited to foreign accounts.

CHICAGO WHEAT

The easing of the European tension, together with adverse Liver- pool and Winnipeg advices imparted a heavy undertone. Further depressing factors were favourable Southern Hemisphere crop news and increased European crop estimates. Finally, the market rallied somewhat on covering.
