TSUI WAI-PUI ENTERS SINGLES
HARDCOURT FINAL
Defeats Wong Fuk-nam In Three Listless Sets
By Ex-Tennist”.
Tsui Wai-pui beat Wong Fuk-nam 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.
As an exhibition of tennis the match between Tsul Wal-pul (holder) and Wong Fuk-nam in the semi-final of the Colony Hard- court tennis championships at the United Services Recreation Club yesterday was a disappointment, serving no more than to illustrate the wide gap between the standards of the champion and most of the other competitors in the tournament, but the Joser's pertinacity and courage in the face of certain defeat were remarkable and saved the match from being an utter farce.
A feature of the game was Wong's fine start and fighting finish but in all else the whole three sets, which lasted well ander an hour,

was a hopelessly one-sided affair. There was, of course, no com- BERTIE GUEST

On the one hand Tsul 'was for the most part standing practically st!!! on one part of the court, directing the ball where he would, making his strokes freely (though often with deliberate restraint), and unhurriedly. On the other Wong was always rushing about, reaching the ball just in time, to be forced into making easy returns-for Taul to put away or to keep in play as* he chose.
