The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as compared with Saturday's closing quotations.
Early in the morning the market ruled very quiet. Although des mand for "actuals" was fair, dealers and speculators preferred to maintain side-line positions, awaiting the fixation of the permissible export-quota tor October-December by the LR.R. Committee's meet- ing scheduled for today. The fact, that American consumption in creased by about 6,000 tons over the July figure, which was more than expected, 'caused apprehensions of the Committee deciding on a re- lease of 50 to 55 per cent. Such action, it is feared, might put the market on a lower level temporarily.
Later in the session the market encountered easiness on further disquieting European political news. Prices gradually declined by 3/8 cent for all deliveries on profit-taking and selling, mainly for specula- tive accounts....
During the last trading hour the market became very weak on further persistent selling pressure, prices sharply declining by 1/2 cent due to scarcity of buyers. Closing tone was weak.
