The favourite pearl necklace' Is made from, three or four short rows of good-sized gems.. They may graduate up to a centre pearl the size of a cherry, or they may be composed of well-matched pearls the size of large currants.

The clasp that holds these strands of pearls together may be formed of a group of emeralds arranged like an ivy leaf, square rubies in the form of a snake, or a star-like mass of cabochon sap- phires and baton-diamonds. DIAMONDS and gold are the con-

stant partners of pearls. Calices of brilliant cut diamonds support pearls in a delicate, hare- bell brooch. Raised

petals of

waterlilies appear on the surface of a broad gold bracelet, each waterilly enclosing a centre group of pearls,

Two golden stems of Solomon's seal bed round to form another bracelet, the delicate pearl Rewers raising their heads on stalks of gold.

Another lovely pearl ornament is" designed to be worn as a mo- dern one-sided tiara at night. It represents ally of the valley, the Bowers being of pearls and the leaves of carved jade, and em- eralds. This spray can be used as a brooch.
