LAWRENCE STAGES COME-BACK: WINS TWO

THRILLING BACK STROKE

RACE WITNESSED IN COLONY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Only Two Competitors In 100 Yards Free Style

WILFRED LAWRENCE, who in 1936 won the four major sprint aquatic championships of the Colony, staged a magnificent come- back yesterday after a year's absence, owing to illness, when he won the 100 Yards Free Style and 100 Yards Back Stroke Championships, in the Victoria Recreation Club pool.

+ Swimming against only one other competitor. Lawrence was never seriously challenged and won the 100 yards free style in the time of 57 4/5 seconds.
