CHINESE FORCES PRESS ON AT SHAHO

Lightning Raid Made On Japanese Positions At Lungkimiao

Mahwelling, August 17.

With the Japanese forces affecting a steady retreat along many Hines, the front column of Chinese troops on the west bank of the Poyang Lake continues to press on at Shaho and other points along the railway.

Late last night three detachments et Chinese forces made a lightning raid on the Japanese positions at Lungkimjao. The in- vaders there, about 100 m.. were taken completely by surprise and scattered in disorder.

During the confused hand-to-hand fighting, in which bayonets and hand-grenades were freely used, the Japanese lost SCOTES of men, including a major. Two sab machine guns and were also seized by the Chinese-(Central News).
