To meet the demands of the interior districts of west China, the Central Mint, from its Chungking and Chengtu plants, will"-turn out more subsidiary. coins in the form of 20, 10 and 5-cent nickels. The plant in Chungking i Issuing about 350,000 coins daily.
The old Szechuen copper colns may not be carried out- side the province and to assure further circulation of coppers, the Central Authorities will issue one-one and half-cent
coppers.
These will be national in character and will be legal ten- der throughout the country.

The Japanese Navy's spokesman in Tokyo, Rear-Admiral Kiyoshi Noda, has declared once more that the present time is inopportune for the reopening of the Yangtze to foreign commercial shipping. and has sought to justify this declaration by referring to the all- eged obstructions to such shipping caused by floating mines" and Japanese military operations.

Japanese commercial ships at present maintain a regular service between Shanghai and Nanking, and a semi-regular service between Shanghat and Wuhu, writes a Home correspondent.
