BUT CANTON. IS NOT IMPRESSED

Canton, August 7.

The propaganda, contained in the leaflets dropped by the Japanese bombers over the City on Saturday, falled to reach the populace in that the pamphlets were picked up by the police and gendarmes, and destroyed.

In order to be out of range of the anti-aircraft batteries. the Japanese planes flew at an altitude of over 12.000 feet. It was learned from a reliable source, however, that the pam- phlets were intended to impress the people of Canton of the suc- cesses scored by the Japanese and also to make an excuse for the forced landing, by a Japanese plane.
