CROWD CHANTS
"BRADMAN"
36,000 In Test Drama
The huge crowd packed into the Headingley cricket ground at Leeds watched in tense silence for three quarters of an hour for the final stroke which would give Australia the victory over England.
Then, when it did come, they gave one great cheer which could be heard a mile away, and surged on to the field.

Ever since lunch this great crowd had watched every ball with an intensity one could almost feel. After each over there was a long sigh from the crowded rows of seats. Hardly anyone moved until cloud that threatening thunder brought a fairly heavy shower. The players left the field, and specta- tors sheltered under masses of
newspapers.
