EPIDEMICS
IN THE FAR EAST
In many countries there frequently are contagious diseases which are a source of constant danger, not only for the countries them- selves but also for the entire world.
The extent of world-wide travel means that distance no longer exists. For instance, when an epidemie breaks out in China, it can easily constitute a menace for Mediterranean countries as well as for those surrounding the Gulf of Mexico.
