A PROLONGATION The clearing agreement with Switzerland is in reality a pro- longation of a former agreement, although with certain alterations. These largely concern provisions for the extension of German tour- ist traffic to Switzerland and the reduction of interest transfer in capital turnover to 3.2 per cent. In respect of private debts, as well as regulation of goods traffic be- tween Germany, and Switzerland.

Development Of China's Industries Inland

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT)

Chengtu, June 23,

As a further sign of determination on the part of the Chinese people to carry their war of self-defence to the very end, many fac- tory owners in Shanghai and other coastal ports, now menaced by the enemy, have decided to remove their activities inland.

A delegation of 12 from East and South Chins ports, consisting of experts in manufacturing of Chinese goods, transportation, fac- tory planning, merchandising, and raw materials is now visiting Szechuen, after investigations into trade and commünications in bothi Yunnan and Kwelchow.
