AIR RAID WARNINGS
4
Country Divided Into A Hundred Districts
By dividing Britain into one hundred separate warning districts and using the telephone to notify each threatened qasrter the Air- raid Precautions Department expects to be able to give ample warn ing of impending attacks, writes a Home correspondent. Detalls of the national warning system were published recently in “Memoran- dum No. 8."
Colours have been chosen as the means of informing district leaders of what to expect. When it appears possible that a certain district or districts may be ralded a preliminary caution" message will be sent to the principal officers of the local services and to those responsible for blast-furnaces, explosives factories, and other Industries where fairly long preparations must be made.
