After ruling irregular, the market cloned steady.

Prices opened downward on lower foreign advices, but the market remained steady, despite profit-taking and foreign selling and later rallied sharply on the strength of the stock market and good reports from the textile trade. Towards the end of the session, there was £ further small decline on realising. but prices again steadied at the close.

NEW YORK RUBBER

After early casiness on disappointing cables from abroad, there was a sharp rally on the better tone of the securities market, higher freight costs and a scarcity of primary offerings. Speculators came to cover and there was renewed commission-house demand and aggressive factory buying.

CHICAGO WHEAT

Hedge-pressure against the new crop, needed showers in the Spring wheat areas and Russian offerings caused a steady decline. In mid-session, prices rallled partially on covering and on indications of foreign enquiry, but the market turned dull in the afternoon and prices again declined, with traders awaiting developments.
