(British Wireless Service);
It is not possible at this time to form any estimate of the total damage suffered by those railways with which we are concerned, but demolitions on the Shanghai Nanking and Shanghal-Hangchow- Ningpo ratlways have been very extensive and there is reason to fear that a great deal of the roll ing stock has been destroyed or carried away to other lines.
I should Jike, to record here the rallant and efficient work which has been done not only by the British officials, who are nominees of the corporation. but also by the Chinese staff of these as well as of the Canton-Kowloon Railway in repairing damage caused by bomb- ardment and air raids.
