LAUNCHING OF PRODUCTIVE CAMPAIGN

Hankow, June 2

The National Financial Conference summoned by the Ministry of Finance was formally opened here yesterday morning with Dr. H. Il Kung, President of the Executive Yuan and concurrently Minis- ter of Finance, presiding. It was attended by 74 bankers and repre- sentatives from various provinces and municipalities.

STABILISATION

Speaking at the opening cere- mony, Dr. Kung explained that the Conference was called for the pur- pose of devising ways and means of effectively strengthening and stabilising the Anancial situation in all parts of China in order to increase China's strength of re- sistance to Japan.

Dr. Kung pointed out that the financial strength of a country plays an important part in modern warfare. He recalled that in the Great War, Germany was finally
