CRAIGENGOWER AND
LAWN BOWLS NOTES AND COMMENTS
Needle Match This Week At Sookunpoo
By B. R. Swiller
The feature of last Saturday's bowls games was the defeat of the Football Club "A Teara whrst Division by an overwhelming margin. Playing away, the Police were only able to collect 39 shots to their opponents' 101, thus losing by a margin of 62 shots, which constiutes a new record for this season.
The total of 101 amassed by Craizengower is another record for the season, the previous best being .91 scored by the Hong Kong Football Club IFA" Team when they played against their fel- low club-males in the Second Division the Saturday before.
All three Craigengower skips topped the thirty mark, Dick Basu leading with 36 shots to his credit Chief honours, however, go to U.M. Omar who beat Hollands by 25 shots! I was given to under- stand that U.M. Omar himself played a sterling game, especially in the beginning before his front men were able to "And the green" More often than not, he went MEMORY THAT RANKLES down to bowl with the shots The Indians deserve praise for against him, but invariably "ne their victory. They share the hon- turned the tables on his oppon- our of possessing an unbeaten re- ents. They have a termined effort to rally round number of keen players and this their skip. and later gave him perhaps makes up for their lack such good support as to enable him of experience, though they are by to beat Hollands decisively.
The Craigengower bowlers are to be congratulated on theit nne per- formance.

bowlers who, doubtless, meant it The surprise of the afternoon as a joke) that episode in their memory that was provided by the Indians, the bowls career newly promoted team to the First still rankles."as during that time! Division who, on a strange green, they won none of their matches defeated the Civil Servants by 48 away and very few indeed at shots to 48.
For the Indians. E. el Arculli (the former C.C.C. bowler), after an indifferent display last week against J. McKelvte of the Kow- loon Dock. played really excellent bowls to bring home a 31 shots to 11 win over S. Randle who, by the far from playing "a way. was mediocre game himself.

In D. M. Khan, Arculll has more than tellable No. 1. though in my opintori J.. Hoosen is the best No. 1 the Indians have. But for him. and to some extent A.K. Minu.' A.R. Minu's rink would have fared far worse than they did. In the tussle between Minu and Hollidge, the score was quite even

RECREIO'S FIRST WIN Club de Recreto, last year's champions, broke their se- quence of defeats by a victory over the Kowloon Dock Club at home by 17 shots. Several changes, I noticed, were made
the in the composition of Portuguese rinks. R. F. Luz was brought back as skip in place of C. G. Silva who play- ed No. 3 to F. X. Silva, while A. A. Remedios and D. Alves took the places of Q. A. Lopes and L. Silva. The Fortuguese have Luz and F. X Silva to thank for their victory.
A MYSTERY

The closeness of the game in the
beginning can be gauged from the
fact that the score was even on CHEERO CLUB'S

ber of shots scored was 12!
PING PONG WIN
Towards the latter part of the The Cheero Club ping pong team game, however. Minu seemed to engaged H.M.S. Eagle in a friendly make it clear that he wanted a match on Tuesday night when they short head and the result was dis-won by 14 games to four.
