TENNIS LEAGUE TO OPEN
NEXT MONDAY
H.K.C.C. To Play In Mixed Doubles Division
By F. Mela
The Colony tennis championships having been brought to conclusion interest will now be centred on the competitions in the Tennis League which are scheduled to commence on Monday when the first batch of Mixed Doubles will be 'decided.
Added interest has been given to this section of the League by the entry of the Hong Kong Cricket Club who will compete with the U.S.R.O. (holders), Ladies Recreation Club, Chinese Recreation Club and Club de Recreio for the honours.
So far so I can gather the up will probably be the same as USR.C. have not quite decide on last year's. A V. Remedios will their line-up though they will partner J. Gonsalves, while F. J. probably be represented by Major Remedios will play with AV. F. T. Baines, Major L. A. Newnham, Gosana. H. A. Barros and C. A. L Goldman, G: E R. Divett, Miss Barretto will be the third pair. J.1 A. Tyler, Mrs. Baines. Miss M.. Remedios, probably the best Grinths and Mrs, K. E Holmes.mong the "B" Division players, As regards the "A" Division Baines. may be promoted.
Kowloon Indians Tennis Club. Newnham, Divett, Goldman, J. H. Smalley and Lieut. D. C. Mitra will are. If anything, slightly weaker probably make up the side. Misra will probably be playing for the USR.C. in the "A" Division and it is uncertala if he is allowedt by the rules to play in the "B"
KOWLOON AND LR.C.. Both the Kowloon Cricket Club and Indian Recreation Club will be considerably strengthened in Division.
Central British Association have the "A" Division. I hear W. C. Hung will be playing for the been strengthened by the return to K.C.C. Instead of the Chinese the Colony of Norman Whitley and Recreation Club this season and Frank Angus and their probable this should very much strengthen pairings in the "D" Division are: the mainland team who will also G. THIS IS REAL KEENNESS!
By F. Mela
If I were asked who were the four keenest tennis players in Hong Kong today I would reply:
I. Agafaroff, B. G. Baker, B. Agafaroff and C. W. Carver.
REASON: While most people were still asleep yesterday morning these four were bay- ing some practice on the Civil Service Cricket Club courts.
I happened to pass by just before am. and they were ulready at it.
They found that the court was rather on the wet side but they did not mind it. I hear they are going to make a habit of these early morning mat- ches and a jolly good habit it is too!
EVEN ON THE RINKS!
INVASION BY THE FAIR SEX
(By F. Mela)
For some years past members of the fair sex have been included in the Closing Day lawn bowls games at the Talkoo Recreation Club but it is the exception rather than the rule for ladies to be seen on any of the other greens in the Colony.
Yesterday afternoon. however. three ladles-Mesdames Eccleshall, Sherwood and Burling-were seen trying their hand at bowls on the Civil Service Cricket Club green and very accurate bowlers "they were too.

There has been some talk that later in the season those ladies who are interested in the game will figare in an all-fair sex match.
