HMS. Birmingham is expected to arrive here today.
Commanded by Captain E.J.P. | Brind, the cruiser join the 5th Cruiser Squadron, Ching Station, In place of the Danae. She left Portsmouth on February 1 or her maiden voyage.
Her arrival will bring the num- ber of cruisers on the China Sta- tion to five, excluding the Adven- ture, a cruiser-minelayer, which is to return to Devonport during the coming financial year for large re- pairs.
The Birmingham is the first of the new 9,000-tons cruisers to be sent to the Far East. She carried twelve 8in. guns.

HMS. Birmingham's last day in Portsmouth before leaving for the China Station on her maiden com- mission was a memorable one. She was visited by 400 visitors from the city of Birmingham, who made presentations to the cruiser.
