if the first of the Army Tennis Trisis, which were held at 500- kapoo on Tuesday, are any indication, It looks very much as though the Army Committee are going to be faced with a difficult task in Anding representative teams as good as those they fielded last sea- sen in "C" and "D" Divisions of the Hong Kong League.

Several of the others were very good in different departments of the game, but here again lack of variety was evident,

Of last season's players only. About two were present, but no doubt several more will turn out for the next trial which is to be hold on the same courts on Tues-

day next... t

At the present juncture it would seem that the Army will be better off if they enter two teams in "D" Division of the League instead of one in "C" and one in "D."

The players will then be sure of more even opposition and will consequently derive greater en- yment from the matches than it They were confronted by the superior players to be found in "C" Division.

The RAP.C. will certainly have a good side, whilst the R.AS.C., although certain of one newcomer to their ranks have not yet finally decided on the composition of their six. Bad weather and pres sure of work have. unfortunately, delayed the trials of the latter

unit.

The R.A.M.C. also have at least and one newcomer this season should again be able to turn out a medium strength side.

AREA LEAGUE

It is understood that play in the Area League will begin about April 25. so it is to be hoped that the present fine weather will favour the fixture dates" in order that a repetition of last season's "wash- ed out" matches may be avoided.

Although the exact composition of each division of the League has yet to be decided. It is anticipated that it will be very much the same as last year, except, of course, that Although below Army Repre- the absence of one battalion in sentalive standard, many of the the north will mean fewer entries new arrivals should prove of confrom the infantry,
