Bedecked with flags and buntings,, with the ceremonial carpet Laid out the length of the pier and pots of ferns and greenery lining both sides, Queen's Pier presented a gay scene yesterday when, shortly after noon, His Excellency the Governor of Macao, Dr. Artur Tamagnini de Sousa Barbosa, who is on a visit to the Colony, made his official landing.
The distinguished visitor travelled from Macao on the Portuguese warship Bartholomeu Dias, and as the warship approached the buoy off the Naval anchorage, an exchange of salutes was fired.

The reception held at Club Lusitano last evening in honour of His Excellency the Governor of Macao, Dr. Tamagnini Barbosa, was a brilliant success.
Dr. A. B. Labarinho, Consul for Portugal in Hong Kong, received the guests and shortly after 6 p.m. His Excellency Dr. Barboss ar- rived together with His Excellency the Governor, Sir Geoffry North- cote. When they entered the Hall the band played God Save The King and the Portuguese National Anthem.

CHINA'S EXPORT OF GOLD
Hankow, March 24. China's net export of gold to foreign countries during the 26th fiscal year amounted to 25,658,035 gold units, according to figures released here today,
The total amount of gold ex- ported, it is pointed out, showed a sharp decrease as compared with previous years.

CASES OF SMALL-POX
A slight decrease in the number of small-pox cases reported is shown in the returns for the 24 hour ended midnight Wednesday.
There were 21 cases, compared with 24 cases on the previous day. Fourteen cases were from Victoria and seven from Kowloon.'
Other diseases reported during the period were three cases, of en- teric fever, three of cerebro-spinal meningitis, two of measles and one each of diphtheria and dysentery.
