European Y.M.C.A. Holds Annual Meeting

SIR HENRY POLLOCK'S APPEAL

Presiding at the annual meeting of the European Young Mien's Christian Association held in the West Lounge yesterday evening, the Hon. Sir Henry Follock remarked that in the latter part of last year, the influx of refugees filled the Association's bedroom accom- modation to capacity. This enabled the Board, for the first time for some years past, to fulfil their agreement with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank to pay off $10.000 a year of the sum of $150,000 the Association for the building of which the Bank advanced to the West Wing.

As regards the future. I should like to make a special appeal to members to show greater interest in the Association's activities and to display closer co-operation with the Secretarial Staff, parti- cularly in the work on Committees," urged Slr Heary.

There was large attendance at the meeting including Mr. John' Fleming and Mr. P. S. Cassidy.

Addressing those present. Sir Henry Pollock sald:-

During the past year the cost of catering and fuel mounted steadily which necessitated from May 1 last an increase in our tariff.
