"LAST QUARTER"
Since the publication of my last article much has happened at the Valley that should be of laterest and may prove beneficial to racing enthusiasts in connection with their selection of winners at the forthcoming Annual Race bleeting. The work-outs on the cinder Track have bean on the fast side and many a stable put their can- didates to severe tests with a view towards ascertaining their cap- abilities. In this article I will endeavour to give readers a resume of the ponies in the different classes and their best performances to date.

Added Interest has been noted on account of the early arrival of several Shanghal jockeys to do service for the larger stables. Mr. C. Encarnacao will don the crimson of Mr. and Mrs. Eu Tong Sen while Mr. J. Pote-Bunt will take charge of the "Time" stable owned by Mr. Là Po Chun. The Dynasty interests will be in the hands of Mr. V. V. Needa, who has ridden several Derby winners on the local course the past years. Mr. Marshall has been booked by the "Eve" stable, while I understand amongst impending arrivals will be Mr. FF Maitland for the Dunbar stdag. Mr. T. L. Wong for Mr. Li Lan Sang and Mr. D. S. 14 for Messrs. Kong Bros.
It has also been rumoured that several other well-known Norther riders will be visiting the Colony on business and pleasure trips and may also participate.

ROYAL SCOTS. MAKE DEBUT.
Close Game With The Navy
The football team of the Royal Scots Regiment made its debut yesterday with a match against the Royal Navy at Causeway Bay, and, after a close game, the Regi- ment won by the only goal scored. Several of the military side showed good form, particularly Fraser at left-back, his name- sake at centre-balf, and Hossack at centre-forward.
The latter in particular played a very good game of football, and, had he had more of the ball, might have got more than one goal.
The teams were:-

MACAO RACE MEETING

BY "LAST QUARTER"
The Macao Jockey Club upens their 1939 racing sERSON tomorrow when the February Race Meeting will be held at the Arola Preta" course. The card consists of six events and there is every probability that some of the Shanghal better known joe- koys now in the Colony may be 'Induced make the trip, if only to renew acquaintances with former mounts as all the Macao suba are old Shanghai ponies. Given fair weather there should be a large attendance and attractive dividends, a feature at the last few meeting.
:
The opening event over six furlongs is for Macao subs that have not earned more than $300 in stakes money since January 1937, and on paper Hohenfels should be very near. Coureur Bleu should not be despised and Fairy Auk although rather heavily weighted may bring home the honours as this pony ran excep- tionally well at the last meeting.
THE GOOD LUCK HANDICAP
This race would have been an easy one for Rothesay Bay but for and
