HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 1938.

GIVEN NEW LEASE OF LIFE?

The challenge issued by Seaman Bob Harvey for a boxing match against any middleweight in the Colony has been accepted by Bat- tling Elo, recently returned from Singapore where he had a series of ghts and the stage appears to be set, at long last, for all boxing fans in Hong Kong will no doubt watch with anxiety whether these *ifs" can be overcome.

The acceptarice of Battling Rio carries one condition, namely that Harvey brings his weight down to the welterweight limit.. I have since seen Rio and he tells me that as he weighs about 143 Ibs., he feels it would be too much of a concession to fight Harvey who, he thinks, tips the scale at 155 lbs. Rio says he will be quite happy if Harvey can make the 150 lbs., as he feels he might easily put on another three or four pounds "to make things more even."

There are a number of local therweight (amateur) champion. boxers all anxious to get into the ship. Lee Scores Three Goals For Eastern F.C.

The Macao Army football team played their second match at Caroline H yesterday when they were opposed to the Eastern Football Club and were besten by three goals to nil, Lee Ticky scoring two in the first half and Soong Ling-sung adding to the total after the change-over.

A. Silverio, the Macão left-balf, sustained an Injury to the ankle and was forced to leave the,, field shortly after the com- mencement of the second half, his place being taken by one of the reserves.

The Macao team played a very indifférent game, probably due to the fact, that they had a very strenuous game the day before against South China "B." They were hard-working enough but it appeared" that none of their for wards were capable of kicking the bal hard enough to be any threat at all to the Eastern goal-keeper.

Eastern had an easy time and after play had been in progress for about afteen minutes. Lee Tucky scored from close range. success spurred him on and within five minutes he added another. This proved to be the only score in the first half, the teams chang- ing over some ten minutes later.
