It is a coincidence that all three have anished their careers in command of battleships of the Home Fleet, Rear-Admiral Sir Lionel Sturdee in the Resolu- tion, Rear-Admiral A. R. Dewar in the Nelson and Rear-Admiral R W. Oldham in the Ramilies.

NEW IRISH BATTALIONS The re-formed Irish battalions have now taken over full normal duty as units of the line.

The 2nd Battalion, The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, crossed from Omagh to Catterick last weet: and the 2nd Battalion. The Royal Irish Fuslilera, from Aldershot, took up duty at Malta this week. The depot of the latter regiment has been temporarily at Borden, but on Monday it was transferred to Catterick, Provision will be made

in the 1938 Estimates for a new depot barracks in Northern Ire- land.

The other important change is the placing of control of Estate Duty. Stamps and various minor sources of revenue under a Super- intendent "of Inland, Revenue, to which post Mr. D. Kelvin-Stark, Cadet officer, has been appointed.

Royal Scots Arrive From Home

The 2nd Battalion Royal Scots, whose personnel totals 740 officers 'and men and nearly 200 wives and families, arrived here from Eng- land aboard the troopship Dunera yesterday afternoon. The Royal Scots will go into Murray Barracks.

The Dunera will leave tomorrow for, Shanghai where she will loave reliefs for that area and will take on the Royal Welch Fusiliers, leav- ing for the Colony the next day. The troopship will arrive back In Hong Kong on February 5 and will sall for the United Kingdom on Febru- ary 11.

Chung Cheting, allas Chung Fat, was committed to stand trial at the forthcoming Criminal Sessions, by Mr. K. M. A. Barnett, at the How- loon Maistracy yesterday, when he appeared on two charges of house- breaking in the Hung Hom Dis trict.

It was alleged that Chung had gained admission to No. 73., Cheung On Street, second floor, on Novem- ber 26, and stolen an overcoat and several pieces of old ornaments be- longing to Lai Fong, and also to No. 35, Ho Heung Road, ground floor, on December 28, and stolen three pieces of clothing.
