SON WHOM FATHER SACKED AS "USELESS"

Found guilty on charges of forgery of a valuable security and uttering a forged document,' Sa Huen, alias So Suen, allas P. C. So, who stood trial before the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl MacGre- for, at the Sessions yesterday, was sentenced to two years' hard labour.

Accused pleaded not guilty. The jury empanelled for the case were Messrs. L. Weill (foreman), A; Pollock, Les Chan-kee, M. G.. Prata, A. K. Chan, A. W. Harper and J. M. de Conceicao.

"Accused signed a promissory note, which was for $1.135, in his Town name, but stamped it with a false chop, alleged to be that of the Yee Hop Arm, which was owned by his father, Bo Chun," declared Mr. E. H. Williams, Assistant At- torney General, who prosecuted.

“Accused had been managing the business for a number of years on behalf of his father, until Novem- ber 1936, when he was relleved of Į his duties, as he was considered useless.

BARN DANCE AT RECREIO

The Ladies' Section of the Club di Recreto has planned A Barn Dance to be held in the clubhouse. King's Park, on Sunday, January 30, commencing at 8 pm.

Mr. S. Simpson, chemist of the Taikoo Dockyard, gave a very in teresting and instructive talk on the Chemistry of Photography at the Soldiers and Sailors' Home last night. One of a series of lectures planned by the Camera Club of the Home, the talk was accompanied by practical demonstration and ex- periments.

Mr. Simpson first "demonstrated- the action of light by means of a pyramid and a projection lantern, throwing a spectroscope on the screen. The action of silver nitrate and silver bromide, two chemicals which comprise all sensitive material used in photography, was also demonstrated.

The composition of developers was explained in detail by the lecturer, who then made various recommendations to the thusiasts present.

Many questions were asked in the

course of the lecture, which was followed with great interest.
