TORPEDO SCHOOL COMMAND

Captain R. B. T. Miles, from the battleship Revenge, who will suc- ceed Capt. D. A. Budgen in com- mand of the torpedo schoolship Deflance at Devonport, specialized in torpedoes in 1911. Promoted in 1927, he is now among the first 25 out of the 250 captains on the list.

H.M.S. GLORIOUS

The aircraft-carrier Glorious will recommission at Devonport for further service in the Mediter- ranean, and will leave for Gibral- tar and Malta on January 14 or 15. Captain B. A. Fraser, C.B.E., A.D.C.. who has now reached the

top of the captains' list, will be succeeded in command by Captain.

CRUISERS FOR RESERVE H.M.S. Despatch. Iate Bagship of the 3rd Cruiser Squadron, Med!- terranean, has begun a reft at Portsmouth

In preparation for passing into reserve. H.M.S. Danse" from the China Station, will enter the reserve at Portsmouth under the orders of the Vice-Admiral. Reserve Fleet, on January 14, ami will begin a refit on January 24.

INVALIDING CONCESSION

Pensioners in receipt of long service pensions, who are normally ineligible for the invaliding benefi of 28 days' pay and allowances, are in future to be granted an extension of pay and allowances, under the usual conditions in in validing cases, for three days be- yond the date of medical survey for Invaliding. The extension of pay, etc., for 28 days beyond the date of medical survey will con- tinue to apply where the invalid- ing is due to insarity.

Mr. Hore-Belisha, Secretary" of State for War, paid a visit of inspection to the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, on Jan. 4.

He was accompanied by Engineer Vice-Admiral Sir Harold Brown, Director-General of Munitions Production at the War Office, and Sir Reginald Townsend, Director of Ordnance Factories.

The party was met on arrival at the Arsenal by the Chief Superintendent. Mr. F. Carnegie.
