AGE OF NEWLY PROMOTED CAPTAINS
A
In the New Year promotions to captain, the selections have been made from slightly lower positions on the list of comunarders than' on the two previous occasions. year ago the senior of the new captains was 53 places down the commanders' list and the junior .188. 8x months ago the senlor was Gist and the junior 215h. This time the senior was 89 places down and the Junior 222.
The zone for promotion is from four to eight years' seniority as commander. Three of the new -captains had served for the full term and three more for 7 years; at the other end are two captains with 4 years. The ages of the officers promoted are rather lower than in previous batches. Two ure 44 and three are 43, but others are not yet 40. The majority entered Osborne immediately before the War, but there are two who begun their service
25 special entry cadets during the War. Captain L S. Saunders-joined Keyham Col- lege from Edinburgh Academy in September. 1914; and Captain Guy Grantham from Rugby in June. 1918, Captain Grantham passed out at the head of his term and was chief cadet captain.
