STREET FIGHTING IN
HANGCHOW
JANUARY 10, 1938.
NECESSITY OF FREEING
Coloured Races From White Yoke
Tokyo, Jan,
The views expressed by Admiral Suetsugu on war with Britain and on the necessity of freeing, the co- loured races from the White yoke, are his own private beliefs and do not represent the opinions held by the Government, a spokesman of the Foreign Office told foreign press corespondents yesterday.. ¿
The spokesman said the Ad- miral's views were expressed in an interview with a representative of "Kajzo," a leading monthly ma- gazine, before his appointment as Home Minister on Dec. 12.
The original text of Admiral Suetsugu's Interview appearing fr the magazine, the spokesmen pointed out, "does not indicate in any way the Japanese attitude or polles towards driving the Whites out of Asia.
"What was emphasised by the Admiral in that article was that white dominance over the colour- ed races needs" modification, so that real peace can be secured among the peoples of the world."
TRUE MEANING
The spokesman said, that the Admiral's reference to aid extended to China by Britain and Russia should not be interpreted as chal- fenging these powers
Admiral Suetsugu merely wanted to stress the importance of putting an end to the sources of China's arms supplies.
The spokesman declared that Japan respects the rights of third reiterated powers and has often this stand..
The Admiral did not say he wanted to fight Britain, nor did he predict a clash with that country.
