NON-LETHAL GASES There are also two non-lethal non-persistent gases which are perhaps worth mentioning- Diphenylamine - chlorarsine and Chloracetophenone.

The first one is a bright yellow solid crystal insoluble in water. When heated. it melts and the vapour condenses into a particulate cloud, J.e. very fine particles of dust. It has an irritating smell and causes coughing, sneezing, vomiting, pain in the nose, throat, chest and gums, and has an im- mediate action It would probably be released from generators er floats and requires a concentration of 1 in 8,000,000 to incapacitate in a 2-minute exposure.

The second one is also a solia, but when heated gives off a sweet but Irritating tear gas which also ¡to a slight degree irritates the skin

You get a prickly eat feeling on any exposed area of skin more especially in hot weather. It is quite harmless and by facing the breeze for a minute or so it all clears away.

GERMANS, BEGIN WELL The Loyals made an unsuccessful raid right after the opening bully and were forced to play a defensive game. Pracht was most thrustful in the attack in Initiating several fine movements but Soenksen and Lemser were often caught in an off-side position due to over- eagerness.

About 15 minutes, after the play had started, the Löyals tightened up and soon found the tide turning in their favour. Byrn and Hancock got into stride and began to storm the German citadel, From a short comer Cronin beat Tiefenbacher with a stinging shot to score the initial" goal. The pace of the game sped up as a result of the soldiers' tally. Both goalies were kept busy. The Teutons.. however, becaine more aggressive and seemed to be playing with driving determination. Prächt had at least, two scoring opportunities but he failed to utilize them. On one occasion, he overran - himself with only Mc- Donald to beat and on the other. he did too much dribbling right in front of the Loyal goal, Lannock robbed him on. In the 30th minute. the same German player tore through the opponents' last line of defence and succeeded in equaliz- ing the score at 1-1 at the time of the rest period.

LOYALS RETALIATE Following the interval, the Loyals lost no time about getting set. The {forwards were seen sweeping down the field with good stlckwork in a concerted attack. In one raid, Byrn SEMI-PERSISTENT GAS
