CHINA'S UNWANTED WAR
BY
LAU KING-TSING.
Timo marches on and though it seems but yesterday that we cele brated Christions of 1935, another festive season is upon us again, and in response to this money requests for a message from me, I take pleasure in panning the few lines in the nature of a Xmas greeting to my many friends and basiness assoeinters.
It is at this time of year that we review the situation as it were, congratulating ourselves for the progress made and seeking to repair any faults of comission or omissione
The year which is now drawing to a close cannot be termed as à successful ang and teaqja Chinese; deeply duplore the conflicts in China. We, as a nation, did not want war and we arby resisting one which has ban formed upon us. We are, however, by no means seeking penné for, as it has bem stated so often in the daily newspapers, there can be no peace ! for China unless it he peace with honour.
1
The wanton acts of the Japanese hïve roused the whole world to indignation, just at the gallantry of, the Chinese defenders has won for them the admiration of the world. Again, the whole of the civilised world has shown sympathy with the Chinese people who are resolved to carry on the fight to the bitter end, and who are determinesi tot to dedonhiunted. by any nggressor.
China did not want a war, but now that it is been forced upon her. China will carry on with but one goal, in view-to achieve victory ani then to resume the peaceful pursuits that were so rudely interrupted by
the enemy.
With ultimate peace for China foremost in my thoughts, I give this grosting to the world: ---
Pence on earth; goodwill toward men."
