OPIUM DIVAN KEEPER FINED
Yeung Hop. 35, and Chan Sul, 19. both unemployed, appeared at the Central Magistracy on Satur day following a raid by the police on No. 22 Winx Lok Street, first floor, and were charged before Mr. R. Edwards with possession of prepared oplùm and keeping an op'um divan
Yeung was fined $200 or two months' imprisonment, on the drst charge, and on the second count was fined $150 or one month's imprisonment. The second defen- dant was discharged.
EVADED BUS FARES
Mol Wing-Kong, 17, student, was charged before Mr. R. Edwards at, the Central Magistracy on Satur- day with evading payment of his fare on a bus on Friday afternoon. He was asked by the conductor for his fare, but Mol replied that he was 2 monthly-ticket holder. When asked to produce the Hcket, he could not do so. He was fined $25.

Parls, December 12. The 1938 Air estimates approxi- mating £10,000,000 passed the Chamber by 523 votes to 1. This represents an increase of £5,500,- 000 as compared with 1937.
The debate Was marked by severe criticism of the French air force. the critics urging higher ex- penditure and faster,production, declared that foreign bombers and pursuit planes were sixty miles an hour faster than the French machines.
The Air Minister, M. Pierre Cot. replied that France had bombers and pursuiters capable of 300m.p.h. which were faster than any Bri- tish or German planes. He point- ed out that the British Air Minis- try had disposed of sums three times higher than the French. The Deputy alleged that between July 1936 and August 1937. France had sent 540 aeroplanes to Spain while Russia had sent 437 and Holland 110.-
