THE PRISONER OF ZENDA

He did it with mirrors!

Ronald Colman has succeeded in imparting to his dual role in David O. Selznick's "The Prisoner of Zenda," showing to-day at the King's Theatre, the most distinct separation of two personalities ever portrayed on the screen by a single star. His method Was unique in the annals of Almdom

Colman, who with Madeleine Carroll and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.. heads the "Zenda" cast, used mirrors to achieve the striking result. He plays the part of both King Rudo, a reigning monarch, and Eudolph Rassendyll, an Eng-. lish gentleman, two persons whose personalities and traits are differ. ent. though their looks are

same.

FINE YEAR

Good Results In Sports And Studies

1

Warm praise for another splendid year's record, both in work and in play, was proferred by the Hon. Dr. R. H. Kale- wall, C.M.G., LL.D., at the Annual Prize-Giving ceremony at King's College yesterday, after he had distributed the awards, Dr. Kotowall commented on the remarkably fine attendance.. the excellent results shown in the University School Certificate · Examination and the feat of the school football team in winning the Junior football league without the loss of a single game.

Mr. W., Kay. Director of Education, and Mr. W. Lucas Handy- side, Acting Headmaster of Queen's 'College, were amongst the distinguished visitors present.

In presenting his report, the Headmaster the Rev. G. E. S Upsdell, said:

of

Dr. Kotewall, Director Education. Ladies and Gentlemen: After several years' absence from a senior Chinese school in this Colony It has beea a refreshing ex- perience to take charge of this college during the time that the Headmaster Mr. Kay has been acting Director of Education. The co-operation" of the parents and the desire of the boys to obtain the greatest value out of the educa- tion provided, contribute very largely to the success

of any educational institution and 15 average attendance of 98 per cent. throughout the year in a school of 800, boys speaks for itself.

"This College; as such, was only. opened in 1928 but traditions, worthy of its position in the Colony, are being steadily and surely established.

Studies

"Fifty-eight boys in Class ! entered for the Hong Kong Univer- sity School Certificate Examination and 57 sat, out of whom 51 passed, making 89.5 per cent. passes. Of these, 7 obtained honours, 23 qualified for. Matriculation; and a total of 39 Distinctions were gain- ed. Two of the three King Edward VII scholarships, awarded on the results of this examination, were tained by Shum Lau Kwong and Ling Kwok Kwan of this school. 100 MEN AND A GIRL Training were awarded to King'a Two Government Studentships in

College Boys as a result of this examination and we hope that they in future years will reproduce the high standards which they have seen exemplified in the Staff here. As this is the last time that this

ship without the loss of a game. In the Volley ball league, organised by the YM.C.A., we won the small boys championship and were run- ners up in the Junior and Senior divisions. The basket ball team was not so successful, but did well to finish in the middle of the league table. During the Winter, a ping pong championship and Small Ball Football championship were organised and enthusiastical- ly contested.

Boy Scouts

"A troop of 21 scouts is main- tained. One indoor meeting is held every week and, in addition, there are the usual hikes and camps.. It is encouraging to see more boys trom Classes 6, 7 and 8 joining up, and we hope this will continue.

"We are greatly honoured in having the presence of Dr. Kote- wall with us here this morning. A member of the Executive Council and a very busy man yet, his long interest in the educational work of this Colony has been fully sustain- ed and it is with much pleasure that I ask him to give away the

prizes." (Applause).

Dr. Kotewall then distributed the wards.
