felt away slightly. issues, on the other hand, were in quietly persistent demand, Cements Hardening to $12.85.
China Lights declared a divideno. of 50 cents, and a new issue at par of 1 share in 9, $2.50 paid up on 3rd. prox. The shares, which in a quiet market had eased slight- ly to $11.30, were unaffected by the announcement.
Banks were sold as low as $1490, subsequently steadying to upwards, of $1500.

Asked in the House of Commons If, in view of the amounting ad- verse trade balance with countries with which Britain had trade agreements, he would give notice to terminate such agreements where the original time limit had expired with a view to making fresh ones more favourable to the United Kingdom, Mr. R. 8. Hidson Secretary of the Department or Overseas Trade, replied in the negative.
