On all sides one heard the wish expressed that more frequent facilities should be provided for Sunday shooting, but as during this season alone, there are six more occasions on which shooting will take place on that day, members must be content for the time be- Ing with what has been done for them in this respect.

TENNIS SUGGESTION

Sir-It is not often that we in Hong Kong have an opportunity of seeing first-class tennis players -in action, and last Friday's ex- hibition by the German champions was a real treat for local followers

of the game.

I hope I do not sound too critical, but there is a suggestion I should

to the roots of the plant, and thenec to the stem, was actually causing a sufficient lowering of temperature, to make the ball a suitable and appropriate entiron- ment, for the parasite to be born, and live. A slight change in the raising of the temperature was all that was required to save the cot- ton elds of Egypt.

Explain it as you will, or dis- belleve it if you please, there is something about the spiritual "atniosphere" ̄of Christ"presence" which raises the moral tempera- turę. and makes sin and other hindrances to the good life possible, only at the complete abandonment of Christ's fellowship.

WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY? The true knowledge of God's na- ture; His eternal control of the Universe: the true understanding of His love for each one of us, and the imparting of spiritual power that overcomes all human weak- ness: these are the things by which Jesus fulls his promise. ...I came that they may have life, and have it overflowingly. But having once come, whose afterward is the responsibility? It

по longer Christ's; it is our own. Was Oscar j Wilde describing any one of us in that grim little parable' of his? The alternative sayings of the New Testament still lie before us to- day. On the one hand there is this: How shall we escape it we neglect so great salvation. Go thy way, sin no more, lest a worse evil befall thee! And on the other hand there is this: And the spirit

Jocal doubles champions in two sets, and the same four men then engaged in a third set following an exchange of partners. Finally, we saw Von Cramm and Henkel in a singles-just one set, which provided the thrilling tennis for which we had all been waiting.

It was interesting to watch the local boys against two of the world's top-ranking players, but would not one set, or at the most two sets, have sufficed? It 18 50 seldom that we have the pleasure of a visit from players of the class of Von Cramm and Hchkel; that I feel sure most of the spectators would have preferred to see more of the German champions in action against each other.

Major Forsyth, in a short speech, thanked the Chieftain of St. An- drew's Society and 'Lady MacGregor for the success of the Ball on Fil- day night and the Rev. Mackenzie Dow for kindly permitting the use of the Church for the parade service.

Sir Atholl MacGregor, replying.

In future exhibitions of the na- ture of Friday's, it would be very. much appreciated if a best-of-paid warm tribute to the splendid three-sets match could be arranged between the visiting experts. Yours etc.,
